Oh you can't help craving for crabs, prawns, shrimps and lobsters. I feel you.
The seafood creatures you eat, can actually feel PAIN, according to the studies conducted by Professor Bob Elwood, an expert in animal behaviour at the School of Biological Sciences of Queen's University, in Belfast,
and published in Journal of Experimental Biology, Jan 2013.
.
On meat industry and meat eating, some of the core points addressed by Prof. Elwood are worth pondering :
- That it should give humans the *cause for reflection*

- Whatever pain felt by the test subjects in his studies, indicate the way billions of shrimps, crabs and lobsters are handled by the food industry, and how these seafood creatures suffered
- While mammals are given some measure of consideration when they are slaughtered, it is common for crustaceans to have their bodies ripped while alive
It shows clearly that the animals are learning, they're discriminating between a safe area and an area that isn't... It's a criterion that has been tested and been found to be consistent with pain.
An unmentionably large number are abused in extreme ways and perhaps through this experiment there might be some changes in attitudes and practices
Denying that crabs feel pain because they don’t have the same biology is like denying they can see because they don’t have a visual cortex.- Prof. Elwood, expert in animal behaviour at the School of Biological Sciences of Queen's University, in Belfast, Northern Ireland
